Our Academy Council

From 1st April 2023,  our school became part of the Durham and Newcastle Diocesan Learning Trust, which is a multi-academy trust (MAT).  The Board of Directors of the Trust has identified that each school in the Trust will have a dedicated committee to oversee the governance arrangements of the school on their behalf.  This committee is called the Academy Council and its members – Academy Councillors - work closely with the Head Teacher and the school’s leaders in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for all pupils.

You can read more about our Academy Council, previously called Governing Body, below:

Co-Chairs of the Academy Council:

Alan Wright

"Appointed as a Parent Governor, I have a son at Ward Jackson. I have over 30 years experience in the IT industry, working in both private and public sectors. I have lived in Hartlepool since 1989 and endeavour to support both our school and local community."

Kathryn Donnelly

"I am honoured to serve as Co-Chair of the Academy Council at Ward Jackson Church of England Primary School. As an experienced teacher and now Principal of a higher education provider, I am passionate about education and the difference it can make to children, families and communities. I am proud to support a school where children are known, valued and encouraged to thrive, and I look forward to working alongside the Academy Council, staff, families and wider community to support the continued success of Ward Jackson."

Alan and Kathryn are contactable via the school office.

Safeguarding Link Councillor - Reverend John Bell

"I am privileged to be one of the Academy Councillors for Ward Jackson. Born just outside of Durham, I left the area when I went to University and then spent 20 years working as an Engineer in the Aerospace Industry, in the south of England. After training to become a priest, I moved back to the North East in 2022 when I was appointed Priest in Charge of All Saints, Stranton."

SEND Councillor - Emma Daly
